SSW statement on referendum decision

Following the UK’s EU referendum, the United Kingdom has voted to leave the European Union. This is a significant decision and there will be many questions asked in the coming days and weeks ahead about what the future holds in relation to immigration to the UK.

In particular, the result has raised concerns for EU nationals who are currently living and working in the UK. As it could take two years or more for the UK to leave the EU, there are unlikely to be any immediate changes to the current free movement arrangements in place for European nationals.

The vote to leave the EU has also prompted the resignation of Prime Minister David Cameron, who has indicated he will step down by October this year.
