Scheme to benefit regular travellers to the UK

As of 17 November the existing registered traveller scheme, first piloted in September 2013, has been extended out to include travel ports other than just Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

The extension of the scheme will see thousands of regular travellers to the UK from the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan benefit from expedited travel through various UK travel hubs over the coming months. The perks of the scheme include the option to use ePassport gates or to join the EU/EEA nationals queue at passport control, giving them the freedom to enter the UK using the shortest available queue.

The scheme will initially be capped at 5,000 travellers and, in order to qualify for the scheme, people will need to have visited the UK at least four times within the last 12 months. Travellers will also be subjected to extensive checks before being entered on to the register.
