Registered Traveller Service for Latin America
The UK’s Registered Traveller Service has been expanded to include even more countries than before.
Membership of the service is now open to travellers from Argentina, Belize, Brazil, Brunei, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Israel, Malaysia, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay and Uruguay. There are also plans to open the service out to India in the near future.
The service is aimed at business travellers and regular visitors to the UK and is designed speed up their entry to the country.
Once successfully registered, Registered Travellers will:
- not need to fill out a landing card or undergo a credibility interview upon arrival
- be able to use the ePassport gates (only with a biometric passport)
- be able to use the UK/EU channels at passport control or the Registered Traveller lanes
To be eligible to apply for the Registered Traveller Service, passengers must hold an eligible passport and have a UK visa or entry clearance, or have visited the UK at least four times in the past two years.
It is expected that current and continued expansion of the service will boost the UK’s economy. Last year saw visitors from just six of the countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Israel, Malaysia and Mexico) spend close to £1bn in the UK, an increase of almost 30 per cent on the previous year.
