Some good news for a change
As it’s Friday, we thought we’d ignore the bad news from around the world and send you into the weekend with something a little happier.
We are proud of how we have helped one of our clients by relocating a key employee to London, and then continued to support their immigration needs as the company grew and needed to employ specialist staff from overseas.
Our client (we’ll call them 123), is based in the US within the TV and film industry, specialising in digital enhancement.
In order to expand their network and increase their visibility to foreign investors across international markets, 123 deemed it necessary to make an investment into London where they would transfer and recruit technical staff.
Entry clearance
We applied on behalf of Mr A, a key member of their overseas management team, who needed to relocate to the UK. Since Mr A did not hold the right to work in the UK, we successfully managed his entry clearance visa application as the representative of an overseas business.
This application was managed via our NYC office where we employ dedicated staff who are experts in UK immigration law.
Once Mr A had relocated to the UK and set up a wholly-owned subsidiary for 123’s overseas parent company, Smith Stone Walters then assisted 123 in obtaining a Tier 2 sponsor licence.
Tier 2 sponsor licence
Our City of London office managed the application process. We advised them of their ongoing responsibilities as the employer of migrants and offered guidance on best practice to ensure that they remained compliant with the current rules.
Since acquiring the Tier 2 licence, SSW has successfully supported Mr A in employing additional overseas nationals in skilled technical roles in the UK. Mr A was also trained by Smith Stone Walters in the use of the sponsor management system (SMS) to ensure any changes in circumstances in relation to the company’s Tier 2 visa holders are reported on.
Dedicated account management
Four years after landing in the UK, 123’s UK business is thriving, as has their relationship with us. They now have two dedicated Smith Stone Walters account managers whom they can call upon to support their ongoing immigration and related compliance needs.
Visa extensions
Currently we are preparing the renewal of their Tier 2 sponsor licence and assisting them in connection with two visa extension applications for two of their UK-based employees.
A feelgood immigration story to end the working week – have a lovely weekend everyone.
