Tier 1 Workers Beware
Introduced in 2008 as a replacement to the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme, the Tier 1 (General) route was designed to allow highly skilled people to enter the United Kingdom without a specific job offer. Following the government’s decision to phase this scheme out completely, an important date is looming for all existing Tier 1 (General) visa holders, which may affect them more than they realise.
