brazil vitem v
work visa
Visa scheme permitting qualified professionals to access Brazilian markets
The VITEM V Work Visa is Brazil’s most commonly awarded work visa which applies to most foreign workers. It is known as a temporary work visa and is valid for up to two years, with the option to request another two-year extension.
Employees who decide they’d rather operate from Brazil on a longer-term basis have the option to transition into a permanent work visa after the initial two years have ended.
Eligibility requirements
To be eligible for a Brazil VITEM V Work visa, the individual must have one of the following:
- Two years of professional experience in the relevant field and a minimum of 9 years of school-level education; or
- A relevant university degree and one year of relevant experience; or
- A post-graduate degree in a relevant field.
How much it costs
Consular Services fees are paid by online transfer to the Embassy’s bank account on the day of the appointment. Please note that visa fees are not refundable. Fees may also change at the discretion of the authorities.
The consular fee for a temporary work visa is €120,00 for nationals of most countries, with some exceptions.
How to apply
You can apply for a Brazil work visa if you have found a job in Brazil. Your employer must get approval for you to work in their company from the Brazilian Ministry of Labor.
Once the Ministry of Labor approves the request, they will notify the Brazilian Consulate where you will apply for the work visa. Then, the Consulate authorities will stamp the visa on your passport, and you can travel to Brazil, where you must register with the Federal Police within 90 days.
Processing times
The processing time is normally 3 to 4 weeks once the application has been filed with the Brazilian Ministry of Labor.
The VITEM V visa is normally issued within 2 business days. Once the VITEM V visa is issued, the employee must enter Brazil within 90 days.
How long you can stay
A VITEM V visa is valid for 2 years and can be transformed into a permanent working visa after 2 years.
Permitted activities
The VITEM V visa is typically given to those who are coming to Brazil for a work contract in research skills, technical assistance, or other professional services.
