Fundraising Fun continues with the SSW Active August Weekend

Whilst the majority of staff at Smith Stone Walters continue to work remotely, we have been busy coming up with new ways of raising much needed funds for our chosen charity the Rainbow Trust, whilst keeping our staff safe at home.

In June, we launched the SSW Coffee Club, a new fundraising initiative which invited staff to make a pledge and donate the cost of their weekly coffee to the Rainbow Trust. Whatever staff could afford to give, Smith Stone Walters matched each donation. The scheme ran for two months throughout June and July, and we are delighted to announce our collective efforts raised a grand total of £1,302.

Hot on the heels of the Coffee Club’s success, our next lockdown fundraiser had a slightly more active theme.

The SSW Active August Weekend

The ‘SSW Active August Weekend’ invited staff to set themselves a challenge to run, walk or cycle a set distance over a sunny weekend in August.

For each kilometer staff completed as part of their challenge, they donated £1 to the Rainbow Trust and were entered into a prize draw to win a half day off to recover! As before, Smith Stone Walters pledged to match each donation, and we are pleased to announce the weekend raised over £500.

We were delighted with the enthusiasm our staff showed towards the new scheme, with a variety of pledges from 10k runs or walks right through to 50k bike rides, ‘keepie uppies’ in the park, and even one member of staff completing a marathon!

We would like to thank all of our staff who got involved, and we hope the money we have raised with our lockdown activities will go some way towards helping the Rainbow Trust deliver their vital services to the community at a time where they are needed the most.

About the Rainbow Trust

Smith Stone Walters is proud to support the Rainbow Trust, a children’s charity that provides vital support for families with seriously ill children. Despite lockdown, the Rainbow Trust has continued working hard in the community delivering its essential support services.

Unfortunately, due to the current lockdown restrictions, many charities like the Rainbow Trust have been impacted by the lack of fundraising events and activities that would normally generate much needed income to help fund their services.

Our fundraising efforts have always been directed from within, by our staff. That’s why, whilst we all continue to work from home, SSW is looking for new ways we can join forces remotely to raise much needed funds for a cause we all believe strongly in.
