Have your say on the Tier 2 review
The Tier 2 visa entry route into the UK is currently under review by the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) with the intention of slimming down opportunities to come to the UK as a Tier 2 worker.
To inform their review, the MAC is hosting an Open Forum on Monday 13th July to seek views and evidence from concerned parties, such as sponsor licence holders and their legal representatives, on various issues which are currently under consideration.
The Open Forum is the ideal opportunity for your organisation to have its say and the Smith Stone Walters’ team will be on hand to meet you. Our team will be poised and ready to represent your best interests as the following issues are discussed:
- The implementation of a skills levy on Tier 2 visas;
- The limitation of the time that sectors can remain on the shortage occupation list;
- The restriction of the automatic right for Tier 2 dependants to work;
- The restriction of Tier 2 (General) recruitment to skills shortages and highly specialised experts; and
- The tightening up of the intra-company transfer (ICT) route, for example applying the immigration health surcharge.
PLEASE CONTACT SMITH STONE WALTERS IMMEDIATELY IF YOU WISH TO REPRESENT YOUR SPONSOR ORGANISATION AT THIS MEETING.
The forum will be held in London at 10am – 12pm on Monday 13 July 2015 and pre-event registration is mandatory.
Alternatively, sponsors and other interested parties have until 25 September 2015 to submit their views and evidence to the MAC in writing. These written responses should be sent via email to mac@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk or via post to: Migration Advisory Committee, 3rd Floor, Seacole Building, 2 Marsham Street, London SW1P 4DF.
