SSW puts down roots
when you uproot!

Smith Stone Walters is delighted to announce that we have launched a new company initiative to help us work towards becoming a climate positive workforce.

We know that climate change is a major crisis facing our planet, and we are continuously looking at ways to lower our environmental impact. At SSW we have already taken steps to help us reduce our carbon footprint, such as operating a completely paperless file management system alongside travel and emission reduction schemes, but we want to do more.

We plant trees for every visa instruction we receive

Immigration is our business, and it’s what we do best. That’s why we have chosen to give back to the environment by planting trees for every visa instruction we receive.

Our pledge is simple: every time a client instructs us on an immigration case, we will plant five trees on their behalf. So when you or your employees uproot, engaging SSW to work on your case will have a positive impact on the environment.

Through our reforestation project, we are aiming to plant 250,000 trees by 2030.

Why tree planting?

When it comes to building a more sustainable future for our planet, even the smallest actions can collectively make a huge difference. Take tree planting for example: a single tree may not be able to offset a significant amount of carbon by itself, but a whole forest can.

In fact, it’s now common knowledge that one of the best tools to tackle the climate crisis and keep our temperatures from rising is to plant trees. For this reason, we have partnered with Ecologi to help us achieve our climate action goals.

What is Ecologi?

Ecologi is an environmental organisation based in the UK that funds reforestation projects. The platform has enabled over 20 million trees to be planted and 650,000+ tonnes of CO2 reduced in just 28 months.

Ecologi works with tree planting partners who will responsibly plant the trees on our behalf. The project also provides fair-wage employment by hiring local villagers to grow, plant and guard the forest restoration sites, providing a consistent income to poverty-stricken communities.

Feeling inspired?

If you’ve been inspired by our new venture or you just love trees like we do, we’d love you to join us. You can make a positive difference by:

  • Engaging SSW for all your immigration needs: By instructing us on your immigration cases, your visa applications can directly contribute towards reversing climate change.
  • Growing your own forest: Join us by setting up your own individual or business account with Ecologi. Speak to us for more details on starting your own tree planting project.
