Is your Tier 2
Sponsor Licence
due to expire?

Did your business recently receive a notification from the Home office advising that your licence to sponsor workers under the Tier 2 scheme will shortly expire?

If so, we recommend that you take the necessary steps towards renewing your licence for a further four year period as soon as possible.

The renewal of your Tier 2 sponsor licence can be arranged via the sponsor management system, where you can also check your sponsor licence details using the ‘Licence summary’ function and ensure that they are accurate.

Failure to renew a sponsor licence before its expiry will result in the licence terminating and your business no longer being able to sponsor migrant workers.

Sponsor Compliance

The request to renew a sponsor licence can sometimes trigger an audit from the Home Office, especially if you had not been subject to one within the past four years.

During a Home Office audit, a Compliance Officer will review your personnel files and HR systems to ensure the correct documentation is kept on file. The officer will also assess whether your HR processes and procedures are robust enough to track and monitor those employees who require a visa to work in the UK.

In advance of renewing your Tier 2 Sponsor Licence, a review of your HR processes and procedures is therefore highly recommended to ensure that you remain fully compliant with your Sponsor Duties.

If you require guidance in this area, please contact Smith Stone Walters and ask how our sponsorship compliance services can be of assistance to your business.
