50,000 trees planted in
SSW's climate pledge!

Smith Stone Walters is delighted to announce that our tree planting project has reached an exciting new milestone, with 50,000 trees now planted under the scheme.

At SSW, we are passionate about our planet and we want to do more to help tackle climate change. With this in mind, we have partnered with Ecologi, an environmental organisastion based in the UK that funds reforestation projects.

Through this partnership, we have pledged to plant five trees for every visa instruction we receive, with a business goal of planting 250,000 trees by 2030. Ecologi works with tree planting partners who responsibly plant the trees on our behalf.

Our impact

To date, Smith Stone Walters has funded the planting of trees across nine different projects including a contribution of over 12,000 trees towards mangrove restoration efforts in Madagascar supporting planting locations on parcels of coastal land to the North West of the island.

This project aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals and provides fair-wage employment to impoverished villagers as agents of global forest restoration. Local people are hired to grow, plant, and guard to maturity the trees planted through community funding– on a massive scale. This approach therefore delivers multiple positive socioeconomic and environment impacts.

As well as having 50,000 trees in the ‘SSW Forest’, our funding has also helped to offset 110 tonnes of CO2e. That’s equivalent to:

  • 84 long haul flights
  • 330 metres squared of sea ice saved
  • 272,910 miles driven in a car.

How you can help

We would like to thank our clients for helping us to reach this exciting milestone, and we look forward to expanding the SSW forest through your continued support. If you would like to join us in making a difference to the environment, you can also set up your own Ecologi forest – just ask us how!
