Another UK visa success story from SSW New York!
SSW’s New York-based UK immigration team celebrated another notable UK visa success story last month when it attained a Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa for a US client in only 24 hours.
The Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa enables non-EEA nationals to pursue the entrepreneurial aim of starting a business in the UK and is normally granted for an initial 3 years and 4 months.
Our American client (whom we shall call David) was seeking to break into the UK market after developing an IT platform for use within the investment sector. With 68% of the world’s business in this particular sector being conducted in the United States and United Kingdom, David had spotted a credible opportunity to market his product via the establishment of a new FinTech organization within the UK marketplace.
This goal would only be realised, however, if the UK visa authorities approved his application for entry clearance.

The minimum requirements for a Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa include:
- access to at least £200,000 investment funds
- proven skills, qualifications and experience necessary to establishing a viable UK business
- an acceptable command of the English language
- funds sufficient to cover initial relocation costs
Another key component of ensuring a successful outcome centres is proving the ‘genuineness’ of the application.
The word ‘genuine’ is mentioned by the Tier 1 Entrepreneur Guidance on 91 separate occasions. As such, UK authorities will consider the genuineness of an application based on the evidence provided and, where necessary, seek to interview the applicant to ensure they hold the experience and acumen to realise their UK business aims.
Our client’s business proposition was genuine. David had left no stone unturned in reviewing his industry and establishing a sound UK business proposal. The business plan he submitted in support of his application was meticulous and clearly showed that he had thoroughly explored the marketplace and covered off all potential eventualities.

After receiving their freshly endorsed passports, David and his family took the next available flight to the UK and began their new life.
