Epsom Book Fair

Every year, staff members at Smith Stone Walters are encouraged to devote a full working day to support our chosen charity, the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity.

Five SSW volunteers recently supported Rainbow Trust’s involvement in the Epsom Book Fair by helping to sort a huge number of donated books prior to the event.

The largest book fair of its kind in England and Wales and infamous amongst antique book dealers, last year’s event saw over 60,000 books come through its doors and a grand total of £30,298 was raised for charitable causes.

This year, our volunteers hope that their time and effort will contribute to breaking last year’s fundraising record.

It was a busy and tiring day away from the office, but not without its perks, as volunteers were allowed to advance purchase any books which caught their eye during the sorting process! There was a huge range of books, old and new, and it was interesting to sort through the donations which often comprised extensive collections on one particular topic. The accompanying photo shows three of our volunteers showcasing one such hot topic: the Royal Family!
